Land levelling & terracing in Corfu

Turn a slope into usable land

Much of Corfu is hillside. A plot that looks lovely on a slope can be hard to use: no flat place for a house, a terrace, a pool or even a table and chairs. Levelling and terracing creates usable flat ground and keeps water and soil where you want them.

We work with a mini excavator for cutting and shaping and a tractor for spreading and grading, moving soil from the high side to the low side wherever possible so you do not pay to haul it away. We strip and save the topsoil, shape the ground to the levels you or your designer give us, and leave a surface ready for building, paving or planting.

Larger cuts and any structure that holds back soil, such as a retaining wall, need proper design. We dig and shape; your builder or engineer designs and builds the wall. Always think about where the rain will go after levelling, see drainage.

How the job works

1. Levels and plan

   We agree the flat areas, the levels and where water will run, from your plan or from a walk of the plot.

2. Strip topsoil

   We remove and store the topsoil so it can be spread back later.

3. Cut and fill

   The excavator cuts and shapes, the tractor spreads and grades, and the ground is compacted where it needs to be firm.

4. Finish

   We finish the surface, spread topsoil where you want to plant and remove any surplus.
