Send the water where you want it

Corfu is one of the wetter parts of Greece, and heavy winter rain can push water against house walls, into basements, across terraces and down tracks. Water is the main cause of damp walls, cracked paving, washed-out tracks and eroded slopes.

We dig surface channels, swales and ditches to intercept and guide water, and French drains (a trench with gravel and a perforated pipe) to collect it below ground. We also dig soakaways where water can safely soak away, and prepare culverts where water crosses a track.

Drainage always needs a place for the water to go. Do not send it onto a neighbour's land or into a septic system. We plan the routes with you and dig them with the right fall. See road and track opening and levelling where slopes are involved.

How the job works

1. Find the problem

   We look at where the water comes from, where it collects and where it can safely go.

2. Plan the fall

   We mark the routes and the slopes so water always runs the right way.

3. Dig and lay

   We dig the channels and trenches, and your installer lays the gravel, pipe or culverts.

4. Test and finish

   We test with water if possible, backfill and finish the surface.
