In Greece, landowners are expected to keep their plots clear of dry vegetation through the fire season, and fines can apply if a plot is left overgrown. Deadlines and rules are set each year, so check the current notice from your municipality or the fire service.

More important than the fine is the risk. A plot full of dry grass, brambles and dead wood next to a house is the easiest thing in the world for a summer fire to catch. Clearing it, especially in a strip around your house and along the boundaries, is the best protection you can give it.

We cut back and shred dry vegetation with tractor and hand tools, open firebreaks along boundaries and around buildings, cut dead wood and low branches, and haul away anything that should not stay. If you want to keep it that way, we can return once or twice a year.

How the job works

1. Photos and plot check

   We look at the vegetation, the buildings and boundaries, and how close the neighbours are.

2. Plan the zones

   We agree a plan: a wide zone around the house, strips along the boundaries and the rest of the plot.

3. Clear

   We cut and shred, working the plot in passes, and cut back dead wood and low branches.

4. Remove and repeat

   Dry brush is hauled away. We can come back each spring so the plot stays clear.
